Throughout the National Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows, wax and electric VIGIL CANDLES flicker. They represent the prayers of the faithful who light them in person, or who ask us to represent them in illuminating the sacred alcoves of the Basilica. For a donation of Two Dollars each, we would be honored to light vigil candles for you at the Shrine Altar of Our Lady of Sorrows or any of the chapel shrines. | Although the Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows is a magnificent place of pilgrimage, it was constructed by a larger and more prosperous community than exists today. Only the heroic efforts of its modest parish and the gifts of our benefactors can keep this beloved Shrine maintained and open for the generations to come. |
